Hello all,

Just a quick intro, am looking at my first Lexus and would like some opinions and experiences of owning one.

Looking at a low mileage IS250 SE Auto. 2009 year.

I see some are advertised as CVT, are these cars CVT or automatic gearbox ?

What are any pitfalls to look for in general. What are they like for minor DIY maintenance, Brakes, Oil changes, Plugs etc.

Would appreciate your info, thanks.

Hi Norm

Welcome to the loc

If you look in the IS220D/IS250 section there is a stickied post by @is200 Newbie which is the most comprehensive guide you could wish for.

There's also lots of other posts and topics worth reading through in that section so you will be totally clued up before parting with your cash.

Welcome

Bob is correct, the post here is very useful.

However, I can quickly answer your question.  The Mk2 IS (2005-2012) was only available as either a manual or automatic.  It is the 3rd gen cars that are offered with a CVT gearbox with no other option.

Hi Bob and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch so please dont hold back asking questions big or small should you have any problems with your car. We always welcome ideas on how to overcome problems with our cars but as they are the finest cars in the universe they dont go wrong that often.

We always love to see pictures of your cars so don't be shy.

Happy Lexus Motoring.
