Navigation mouse and Audio not working

Hi there,
The navigation mouse and all Audio buttons have stopped working on my 2011 CT200h. Disconnecting the Battery has made no difference. The Sat Nav still displays on the screen but I cannot access anything as the mouse does not work and none of the audio buttons or Mode Button works on the steering wheel. Holding in the Volume button for 10 seconds makes no difference either. Only message I get on screen when I first switch on the engine is 'Bluetooth disconnected".
Has anyone experienced this?
Dread to think how much Lexus will charge to run diagnostics and repair

Thanks.

You could ring your dealer and ask how much an hours labour to investigate is or look into the carista app / obd2 adaptor. That may bring up a fault code to investigate. Anyone on here with one who could advise if carista would cover this kind of issue?

Thanks very much Steve, could always give them a call but I guess it could be difficult for them to estimate the cost. Have read a bit about using an obd2 adapted but just wasn't sure if it would be able tell me what I need to know, unless it finds an error code but I really don't know much about using that software and kit.

Thanks very much Colin, I've still to do that. I would love it to be that but I have a feeling that it not going be a fuse as looking at the fuse diagram the fuse that does the sat nav, audio also does he overhead controls which I assume are the interior lights, etc and they're working fine. Will defo check though. Could be lucky.

Just a shame as from searching on the web it seems pretty rare and the CTs tend to be really reliable. Just my luck to get something like this. May need to take up singing lessons to improve my attempts at passing the time on my daily commutes  :yucky::yahoo:

Try a local search for independant lexus specialist near your. If the have the software for obd2  their hourly rate will be cheaper than lexus.

last resort pay lexus for 1hour. It will take 5mins to scan the obd2 system for faults and there may be a simple fix.

Thanks Steve, I'm not sure if it has an SD card for the Sat Nav to be honest. Also, the sat nav loads up fine on screen I just can't use it as the mouse doesn't work. It's like there's no power to the mouse and audio controls as none of the audio buttons  work and none of the buttons on the mouse

There is no SD card for this system as everything is done by CD input. I would check fuses first but I doubt an OBD reader will find anything as they only read generic codes for basic sensors/faults. It would need to be done with a proper Toyota/Lexus fault reader. Does the normal radio/CD player work(controlled by radio buttons and not mouse?

Does the phone buttons work?

Thanks very much Paul, none of the audio buttons on the centre console or steering wheel work. The voice control button on the steering wheel still works which allows me to bring up the sat nav and the phone button also brings up the phone screen but as the Bluetooth is disconnected I can't use my phone which is the biggest issue. No hands free sucks :(

I was hoping I could take it to a Toyota dealer instead as my nearest Lexus dealer is quite a bit away but the Toyota one is just 10 mins away.

It would be better to try the Toyota dealer for diagnostics as they use the same things. Hoping it's something simple and cheap. Be interesting to know the result of this as mine is the same year as yours.

Thanks very much Stormchaser. Do you mean you have the same problem? Will need to wait till I have some spare cash to put it into Toyota in case it's going to be a pricey fix.

Thanks Steve, yeah, disconnecting the Battery made no difference at all.

Still to check the fuse (have had a very busy weekend) though not holding out any hope.

Will report back on anything I find out about it.

Thanks.

Haven't got the same problem. It's just that mines the same year as yours. Interested to know the result for future reference. Just hoping it's a fuse(s).

Mouse, steering wheel controls but screen is ok. Possible same circuit?

Have you checked the manual for FAQs? - You might be lucky and find that it is something simple that you can sort out yourself. I know it's a long shot but... fingers crossed...

Have checked and it's definitely not the fuse. The mouse re-centre's itself when the engine is switched on so definitely has power. No option now but to be checked out by Toyota/Lexus

Thanks very much everyone :)

i am pretty sure you can do a hard reset by pressing the on/off button in for about 10 - 15 seconds this can be used if the audio crashes

and needs to be restarted.

Thanks Mark, have tried this but nothing happens when I hold in the on/off button and have disconnected/reconnected the Battery which seemed to reset the Sat Nav and this made no difference. Called Lexus to book in for the recall repairs and asked to give me an estimate and he reckoned at least £160 to run diagnostics and a reset but obviously there's no guarantee this will fix it.....:wallbash:

i have just searched eBay and found 2 head unitis for sale 1 is £180 but needs 2 knobs off the front but you will have these anyway and the other for £120,

this is just incase lexus decide your head unit has had it ,you have other options open to you.

Brilliant. Thanks very much Mark and Paul. It surprisingly started working (a bit) on my way home from work yesterday.

It would not re-connect to my phone and there was no sound coming from the stereo when I selected the radio. It eventually locked up and back to doing nothing.

Thanks.

  • 1 year later...

I've the same problem with my 2011 CT200h after those heavy raining days in Southern California and the good news is: I've it fixed ! Just a few easy steps. Open your hood, remove the fuse box cover, full out the Radio fuse ( check It, make sure It wasn't burned) spray the WD 40 into the fuse connection (you might need to reinsert and full it out couple of times to get rid of the burned spots)  Turn on the car ignition ( press It twice) reinsert the Radio fuse into the connection and wait for the system to reboot and that's It ! You're good to go. Everything should go back to normal ! Meanwhile, the Lexus dealer asked me for thousand of dollars to replace the system !!! SCREW THEM ! OK, good luck and have fun folks.

Hello there

Please read my posted and consider what are you doing is very classic and low tech but It works since I've cleaned the Radio fuse housing. I'm very happy with It and specially save myself thousand of dollars over the Lexus dealer perhaps yours too. :) Hope my experiment will help you. However, I'm greatly appreciated that you've posted this issue up here to let us have a chance to discuss and help each other out.
