As per title really....

I am about to complete the annual pilgrimage to Germany next month and always get my oil changed before doing so (I always change oil at 50% stage between service schedules and seems to tie in nicely before Germany) by my friends garage (My 10k services are done by Lexus for the warranty).

Last year I ran Motul oil in the ISF but found the oil temps were sky high after a few decent runs around the Ring.  They soon dropped after a cool down session but wanted to try a different oil this year to see if it made a difference.

So...  Assuming Lexus use Castrol Edge (which I can't seem to find anymore in 5w 30) has anyone else got any experience in using other oils (preferably with a bit of track time included).  At moment I am swaying towards Mobil 1 but my experience of running that in my old Type R's (notorious for oil burning) was that it burnt off a lot quicker than other oils I used.

I need 9.3L of the finest 5W 30 to keep Lichelle happy :-)

Any thoughts/opinions appreciated.

Cheers.

Is that what they use?  I always thought they used Castrol Edge but I may have been thinking that from my BMW days.

I have not run her on a track with the oil provided by Lexus but looking at US forums apparently it's common for the oil temps to climb to top of chart on track days so I may stick with what I know and put Motul back in this month before Lexus do what they need to do in Jan when she is due her next service.

@FTBBCVoodoo All my later Bm's had Castrol edge and on the normally aspirated 6 cylinder petrol cars, the level went down faster than the second hand on a watch 🙁

The turbo 6 petrols were a fair bit better never understood why 🙄
