"As for the posers, that's because people read the trash magazines/websites that glorify wealth and the rich, so there is always a whole gaggle of Paparazzi on hand to photograph the wannabes in their latest ego extension. I've visited a few times". Hoisted by ones own petard methinks George 😅. And I don't think you fully appreciate the downsides of living in Monaco compared to say the Becontree Estate in Dagenham Essex. Monaco is a fifth of the size yet has 40% of the population, it suffers an average annual temperature of 19 degrees and has to somehow manage on a GDP of around 8 Billion and is 86% Christian. And who would ever choose Le Terrace at the Hotel de Paris overlooking the harbour eating Bream ceviche, avocado, grapefruit & sweet pepper Agria gnocchi with preserved lemon shellfish and brocollini over cod & chips on Southend Sea front? And finally you don't have suffer the angst of watching people use Blue Chips in the casino when there are so many poorer people who can only manage a 2 quid bet in Gentings. 😱

I only visited because I am a Formula 1 addict. Not even remotely interested otherwise. Most of my visits were to see the races, one was to be able to ride the circuit myself on my ZG1300/6, and another was to drive friends around the circuit. Trust me, not one single Pap was interested in taking photos of my 1998 Honda Legend. 🤣

I'll never see anyone bet in a casino ever as I haven't been in one of those sucker traps since 1981 when one near me offered free food and drink.
They soon learned to attach conditions after we ate and drank them dry. 🤣

I'd rather live in crowded south Essex than overcrowded Monaco, but as a place for a brief day visit Monaco is OK.
For my hols I prefer Provence(Var) and would retire there if I could afford it. A nice villa in the valley below Le Castellet.

I do know a few people who live in Monaco. They are all moderately wealthy (have you seen the price of an apartment there?) but most of them are pretty low key people with no need to flaunt their wad. The Hotel de Paris is rarely frequented by most of the locals and the same with the Casino. The climate is no different to the rest of the Côte d'Azur or the Riviera Ligure.

I guess Southend seafront has better parking than Monaco :wink3:

Malc

From Italy on the way to Spain in 1984 we went through Monaco. Wanted to eat somewhere, but no parking place to be found so we were hungry all the way to Spain.

or, when you park outside of the equivalent to the Hotel de Paris it makes your car look better? 🚙🚙🚙

Imagine the ultimate Monaco humiliation. only some parking spaces in front of the hotel and guarded by the hotel porter. If your car is expensive enough he could tell you to park it outside in front for all to see. Eternal glory will be yours. However you have to hand the keys and could find that on return they drive the car up from the underground parking as a more exotic expensive car took your place!

Bernard, a very elegant metaphor for describing evolution

Like most places it's changed a lot in the last 35 years, and there is a lot of other places to eat between Monaco and Spain 🤣

I am not a Mercedes hater, but lately they have been really inferior in quality to Lexus cars.

You are very late to the Party Nick.

Your recent recognition has been evident since 2010.

Anyway a warm welcome to you and your magnificent ES.

What were you driving before you bought into Lexus ?

My workmate in the lunch break is trying his luck and playing casino games. Once I asked him if it is so interesting and he told me that he was attracted by the bonus system specific to the online environment and also he has access to a very large number of games. He told me that he had recently earned 5000 pounds after accessing the site https://www.sharpgambler.co.uk/triumph-online-casino/ and played a game there. He tries his luck on various online casino sites to win as many bonuses as possible.
