New Tyres - Pants Mpg!

Three weekends ago, I had a new set of Dunlop SP9000's (Lexus versions) fitted all round to my IS Sport.

Since then, my fuel consumption has been absolute pants. And I've not been seeing how much grip my new tyres have (okay, just a couple of times ).

I've got 37psi in the front and 36psi in the front.

To be honest, I expected mpg to improve with new tyres, not get worse! Nothing else has changed on the car that should affect mpg ie. its loading, driving styles etc!

Any opinions?

37psi in the front and i take it you mean 36psi in the rear so you'll be getting new tyres soon then as the centre of your tread will wear out quite quickly,tyre pressure guides are inside the door jamb.

Maybe I've read them wrong then cos I thought I had determined the pressure based on what it said on the label inside the door (based on speed and loading).

I run mine between 33 & 35 psi

Im 2 years on a new set when i purchased the car and there is still plenty of meat left on them.

And higher psi = better fuel consumption, but less comfort ;) Strange, huh?

In the most recent tyre test of the German ADAC (RAC) the Dunlop SP 9090 was rated as having average rolling resistance. See here (in German).

I have SP9000's all-round and run them at 33psi

No problems here :)

36/37psi is too high

mine are 33psi too, well they were. i put my bad mpg down to my heavy right foot

Those pressure are for high speed driving.
