These may have been the ones.  Hard to find in the UK then - and apparently now only sold in the US.  But Punch were excellent cigars - and no doubt still are.  Seriously expensive too! …

Since reading this I was nagged by a memory blank about the Punch brand of panatellas until it suddenly came back to me that they were smoked by Honor Blackman, no less.  I don’t remember if she did so in Goldfinger (which would have been a fairly unlikely early example of product placement) or in some other movie or TV film, or if she figured in an advertising campaign for the brand.  Or maybe it was her personal choice during an interview in the days when such a thing as smoking in a TV studio was considered OK.  In any event, I guess the sight of lipstick on a cigar would have created a mild frisson of excitement among the cognoscenti.

Don’t think so.  Never saw a gold tip hanging off her lower lip.

So not Golden Virginia then…in Rizla Liquorice paper - for that frisson of alluring sophistication and hint of sexual promise.

I believe many sophisticates once favoured Passing Clouds cigarettes in their pink packet with a picture of a laid-back cavalier wearing a plumed hat, possibly an early example of the targeting of a closeted audience. True connoisseurs, however, spurned the brand because the  characteristic oval shape of the cigarettes suggested the packet had been sat on.

Outrageous Renato 🤠, Passing Clouds were fantastic fags! Top quality Virginia tobacco and the oval shape made it less likely you duck-ars**d the end 😎

More likely women were seen with Sobranie Cocktails, absolute works of art 🍻

Don't doubt it.  Tried and enjoyed them for a while but the pink packet made me feel a little nervous because it drew funny looks when placed on pub counters, etc.   Three Castles from the same stable (nothing to do with their aroma and flavour) projected an altogether more virile image.
