My white LS interior is shot so likely needs retrimming, so now is the time to decide to upgrade or not. So I quite fancy the luxury recline/ massage etc type seats in the back. My question(s) therefore being, did the 400's ever come with such a package, if not, does said package from a later car i.e a 430 fit/ could be made to fit? Any other suggestions welcome on how to achieve this, have recently stocked up elbow grease and patience 😉

I understand in hot climes the Ls400 was with an optional cloth interior ...........  but I'm guessing you're wanting a bespoke leather reupholstery .......  maybe you'll be looking at some many £'000s for a complete retrim :whistling:

Money to burn  ???  :wink3:

The earlier '93 certainyl didn't have such luxury and its the devils own job to get the Seat back in after removal, has been my experience on two occasions. Took hours and exhaustion. Not quite so bad the second time more than a couple of years after I'd abandoned the task. Don't normally have any passengers.  Suggest need two people with Jemmies to maybe make it easier. Good luck with your upgrade if you can find a suitable Seat.

I very much doubt that the 430 reclining rear seats would fit in a 400 without extensive modifications.
Don't forget that they also rely on being connected to the rear seat control module that has to be connected to the CANBUS.
Why not just buy a 430?

Without being disrespectful to owners, they are just the ugliest. The 400 is a better shape in my eyes.

It was a hypothetical question, if it is mad amounts of effort and others say so, like yourself, then I was happy to leave my interior as is and get a re-trim, was just exploring...

From what I remember from similar research on the old 94 series III seats ( 95-97) would fit the earlier models but the series IV (97-2000) would not, I think you could get only 3 of the 4 front seat bolts to fit without serious modifications.
