Creaking noise from behind the dash when accelerating and braking

Recommended Posts

Hi people, bought a used rx450h 2010  two months ago and so far i am pretty satisfied with it. It has 162K km or 100K miles on the clock. But i started to hear that creaking noise coming from the right side of the dash while i accelerate and brake. Most likely caused from the front end of the car going up and down while acc and brake. Drove it to lexus shop and the guy said that its the bolts that holds the dash to the frame has to be insulated and they need to take the whole dash out in order to do that. The price for the job was pretty heavy so i am wondering if somebody had the same problem and eventually how did they fix it? Is there any shortcuts or cheaper way. Thanks in advance

I found that the plastics at the bottom of the windscreen, under the wipers, which also extend in to the engine bay become brittle overtime and caused a creaking noise which sounded like it was coming from the back of the dash/ windscreen area . A bit of silicone spray where the plastics all meet each other worked for us.
I was able to recreate the noise by opening the door and pushing on the plastics when the car was stationary.

Will they guarantee that this work will resolve the problem? If so then they're probably correct that that's where the noise is coming from. If not then it could be elsewhere.

I suspect it's very hard to be certain where the noise is coming from, does the noise stop if you hold the dashboard?

Taking the whole dash out may fix one issue and cause 2/3 new ones, you could end up spending a lot of money and problem is still unresolved.
