CT is big theft risk

I have just received a letter from LV stating that they will not provide cover from now on for the CT.

Seems they are just tarring all Lexus with the same brush - as far as I'm aware the CT isn't vulnerable to the CAN bus thefts of other Lexus models from roughly 2016 onwards, and I've not seem any reports here - only the old reports of CAT thefts which seems to have diminished over the last couple of years.

Strange, as insurance risk is often calculated on vehicle claim analysis, with the CT being a low volume car in comparison, seems insurers would be more favourable. I think the cat theft is a low consideration considering the claim cost less excess. And as Colin has said now in ever decreasing numbers. Probably find LV will be doing an extra cheap rate for them next year. It's the numbers game.

Agree.

The CT is not affected by Can bus issue.

More of an LV issue I feel, many comments on the Toyota forum about LV not wanting to renew insurance on Hybrids. 

Marketing/underwriting decisions it would seem.

Sounds like LV is a bit of a joke of an insurance company.  Frankly, anything should be insurable with the right cost. Government should review and regulate insurance much better for as long as it remains a mandatory part of motoring.

When I bought my CT which is coming up to a year ago now, a 2014, the salesman assured me it could not be stolen via the canbus and my insurance is normally around £300 FC, I'm not looking forward to it's renewal as I'm hearing a lot about insurances doubling.
