1998 LS400 VSC reset procedure after battery change.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Changed the Battery and the " Check VSC" and TRC lights are lit. I have searched on here and elsewhere and found many posts saying "follow the reset procedure in your owners manual." I do not have a manual and cannot find out what this procedure is. Can someone tell me?

Thanks!

Its usually:

Turn the key to the on position (do not switch the car on) only until the dash lights up, leave it like that for 6 mins, then switch it off, and start the car

Thanks again, all sorted based on the advice here. Car was picked up from storage where they said they kept it on trickle charge per the agreement but the state of charge of the Battery on picking it up showed they told porkies.

Any Battery flattened (and they do go flat with time even when not connected) will be damaged. It may be fine when charged but will have reduced capacity and lifespan.

Hello Phil.

I know your query has been answered but I just thought I would mention, for future reference, that the reset procedure is normally on a yellow sticker mounted near the Battery.

Regards.

Steve.

And you were right. Despite being recharged, it has failed on me.

Mine keeps discharging, sometimes more quickly than others.  I'm getting a replacement, and will keep the new one on trickle charge regularly.
