Yes I would agree..I Like the Chrome Plain badge..!!!

I think you’ll find these badges, like most/all such car manufacturer badges, are glued on.  Providing the size/shape is the same, why not?

I would price the blue/black one up first .

You might get a shock

You would really need to like the facelift badge if you are prepared to pay £300+ for it (although you could get secondhand / import cheaper)

It has been designed and manufactured in a top class design studio. It is made from the finest plastic and cast using titanium steel moulds. Thirteen men are employed to inspect the final quality of such a product.

Or you could just buy a Chinese one!

Are you serious?

It sounds like a joke!

It is the radar for the cruise control. That's why it is so expensive.

Not if it's on the tailgate!

Truth. As I understand it, it is to signify that the car is a Hybrid.

His plain L badge is on his RX400h hybrid.

The price of Lexus spares bear little relation to the cost of manufacture.

I'd speculate that the price is put high to stop people making pre-facelift vehicles to look like facelift models but the RX 400h badge at the back is the same price for the original all chrome version as with the facelift blue 400h so that theory doesn't really play out.

It's just you buy an expensive car, you can afford to buy expensive spares.

It doesn't mean enough to me to go and spend so much money.

Frankly a waste

not quite.....in such instances, it's the manufacturer's way of trying to exploit the buyer and sucking every last dime out of said buyer.  Such 'spares' - as we all know - do not warrant such inflated prices.  When are Lexus customers going to be prepared to challenge such practices? Why should Lexus customers just roll over and accept this?  If we all had the same attitude nothing will change....😡

I'm in no way inferring that is my belief in how it should be, just that is how the car industry currently works. You can call it exploitation if you want but no one is forced to purchase a Lexus over a Toyota for example - and servicing and spares costs should be part of a buyer's decision making, not just the upfront cost to purchase.

A badge makes no difference to the running of the vehicle - it is completely up to the owner to decide if they wish to purchase it or not, so if Lexus wish to sell it for £1,000 it doesn't really hurt anyone. Third parties are freely allowed to make alternatives parts too.

It's so sad that manufacturers/resellers think that they can sell something at a stupid price which bears no relation to its intrinsic value. It's called exploitation. Air fares, hotel prices - all based on what they can get away with. They all want to rip you off.. Example: Hotel Edinburgh £ 110 per night. August ( Edinburgh festival) £700 per night ). More mugs with loadsa money will pay, but an honest working man will not be able to afford it.

TBH any company that employs such tactics is best avoided. I am sorry that Lexus wants to go in this direction so more fool them because customers will eventually see through the exploitative tactics and go elsewhere.

A piece of pressed plastic such as the Lexus badge should cost no more than £20 in my opinion. How could it possibly be more?  We know its a rip-off but as Lexus afficionados we are locked in. Answers on a postcard to rip-off Britain c/o BBC.🤑🤮

Absolutely spot on…..it also surprises me a little whereby on the one hand a Lexus is one of the most reliable cars on the road….and yet on the other we’ve had another member on here recently describing Lexus ownership as being a ‘money pit’…..a slight misalignment there perhaps? OK, swings and roundabouts, and there will be reasons for describing Lexus ownership as such….the jury is still out in my house….although I did have the worst of starts…which, still, trundles on (slight remaining issue with an MOT-failing windscreen washer)😡😡😡 Maybe the so-called bad apple in such situations….certainly mine….are the Lexus dealerships themselves🤔

One more observation if I may…..I have an expensive swiss-made watch….I wanted a striped NATO strap for it….sure, there were plenty of ‘aftermarket’ straps out there…but in the end I bought one with the watch manufacturer’s name on it….and was v happy with it….but, in my case, the cost of doing so was reasonable  ….’nuff said🤔🤔

I agree that it's exploitative, but it's not a product of rip off Britain, and just the inevitable consequence of the supply and demand, profit driven economy that western capitalist countries choose to adopt. The only way to prevent it is to adopt a model whereby prices are based on the cost of production, with a pre deternined/agreed profit margin.

As far as the badge goes, there's probably little to gain in lowering the price, as I imagine that so few people buy/want them that even doubling sales would be of no benefit. It would be a nice customer service touch though if dealers offered them free to those those who lost or damaged theirs, given that they must cost pennies to produce.
