Rx400h number plate bulb

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if there is any easy or simple way to replace one of the bulbs on the boot that sits above the number plate so it can be seen bright and clear by night? I noticed recently right one has gone.

Unfortunately when I tried removing the trim the clips snapped and now the whole back piece is not on properly so it's not a job I want to do myself and mess with to be perfectly honest.

The clips don't normally break, just sometimes get left in the door rather than come away with the panel so you have to remove the panel and pull them out. But I guess due to the age of the vehicle they might break.

Either spend £2+ per clip from Toyota or just buy 50 third party ones for £5.

At some point you will have to do this because the other bulb will blow and will be an MOT failure.

In view of what is involved and possible damage, I would replace both bulbs at same time, even if the second one still works.

Why do Lexus make it so complicated just to replace a bulb?

Such a headache and faf, should be much simpler

Try some modern cars, where to replace a headlight bulb, you have to take off the front bumper - that's progress. Although on our RX's the lights are HID and don't often break, although I suggest if they do, it will cost a fortune. I would probably replace the old bubs with led ones, so they won't need replacing again

I’m understanding many car brands headlamps cannot simply have their bulbs replaced but require a whole headlamp unit at many £’00s when a simple bulb goes pop

it’s a disgrace imho

Thankfully you’re seemingly faced with just a challenging bulb, switch out and replace 🤞

on the rx 400 you can replace the dip headlight bulb, without removing the bumper, but to the main beam bulb you have to partially remove the bumper both sides to get the headlight out so you can change the main beam bulb, it,s a pain!
