Tyre Pressures For 18" Sport Wheels

Recommended Posts

I found when I changed the wheels on my Impreza from 16 to 17 I had to put quite a bit more in than before. Subaru said 28/32 .. I ran 30/33 when it had 16s, reduced understeer having extra pressure in rear. When I put the 17s on, I found the shoulders were wearing too quickly on the front, and like u have found, it was a little heavy, so I upped the rear to 32 and the front to 35.. made a massive difference! I would try adding 2psi in each, take it for a drive down a road you know ;) If it feels too hard, try dropping a pound out... trial and error really, as its down to the individual as to how the car feels.

Hope this helps..

Hmm...I am running mine at 32psi and the ride is rock hard, although I have just changed tyres to Dunlop SP1's.

Would the ride be even harder if I up pressures to 35/36?

Have run with the tyre pressure low [must remeber to check it more often] and noticed no difference in the hard ride, it was just that the tyres felt like they were squirming.

I'd imagine that with them being suck low profiles, the side walls are so stiff anyway that the difference between 32 and 35/36 is so small, that you won't feel it in the ride hardness
