My IS200 SE is due for a insurance renewal in September and I've just had a quote frome my current broker. They have come backe to me with a quote for £585 fully comprehensive with full protected no claims bonus, which I thought was quite reasonable.I then asked them how much if I lower the car, which I was intending to do within the next few months.

Guess what the robbing gits whant another £500 on top just for lowering a poxy -25mm :flaming:

And also I wanted a cheap runabout just for winter so I could keep the IS nice,so I've purchased a Ford Orion 1.8i Ghia for £600 just to go work in and use as the shopping trolley, they now want £600 third party fire and theft off me for that

:flaming:

Anyone have a idea !

According to Swinton to insure a second car I need to start a seperate policy and I would have zero no claims bonus.I always thought the no claims bonus was for the driver not the car .Are they right in what they are saying ?

Unfortunately yes, you can only use a no claims discount on one policy. You should be able to get an introductory discount though.

Chris,

You may want to consider putting the Orion into someone elses name - you'll be covered third party only on your own (IS) comprehensive insurance whenever you drive it. You'd have to park the Orion off the road, though, and you may have trouble taxing it with just your own insurance.

Let me have your details and I could do a bit of digging for you?
