Good point

When my last car only had 20k service intervals I enquired why.

The reason I was given was that modern oils are now perfectly OK for that distance and it was only the oil change that prompted the intermediate servicing.

So why not 20k ?

Are you sitting down? You might like to get yourself a drink first by the way.

£600

WTF??! Why - a cambelt change?!

He didn't mention anything about a cam belt ?

That's every 100K ......... I beleive the spark plugs ..... and air con etc, gets done on the 60K !

I paid about £500 for the 60k (about a year ago).

From memory, the plugs were the only thing that were unusual.

Regarding the 20k service thing - some people quote only the MAJOR service interval (which IS 20k).

Or go to lexus dealer and get a service package.

consist of 2 or 3 vouchers and you save a huge amount.

Even more if you go gold.

can you phone up other dealers, and will they be able to quote you a price based there and then, like the lexus dealers do? or is it the case of actually getting the service done first and then they tell you how much it is gonna cost?

cheers :)
