Sean,

I can't get insured in a s/c IS200 in Ireland at the moment.............. they will quote me however they want written confirmation from Lexus that the s/c is fitted in accordance with their requirements................. there is no way Lexus Ireland will do that............. I sent several emails to Toyota Team Ireland but got no reply so I'm snookered.

As far as insurance hike is concerned I think my premium would have gone up by 42% if I could get the charger fitted to their approval.

S/c Altezza is a different kettle of fish though............... how much you paying now?

Is that your motor in the pic? Niiiiiiicccccceeee

Thats a load of Bo**ox.

Is that true drummer boy?. Yeah thats my car on my profile. its a 2001 altezza. Everything done to it bar the s/c and nice 18" alloys.

ad77,

is there any chance that English companies will insure Irish motors?.

Like im 27 and full NCB.

Just shows how far Ireland is behind in Insurance stuff. They are well ahead in relation to premiums though

Thanks lads,

Sean

Not sure mate. I'm also 27 and 2 months off full NCB. I'm with dirct line at the mo.

But like i said will probably change when the turbo is fitted to an insurance company that deals in modded cars.

Phone around mate. You've got nothing to lose ;)

Sean,

I just tried my broker and thats the response they got back from Allianz who I am currently with , there are companies that specialise in modified cars but I didn't try any of those yet............. have a snoop around.

How much is the premium on the Altezza as it stands?

I'm 32 with full NCB and my premium is €830.............in a 153hp IS200

Drummerboy,

If you go into 123.ie theres a pull down menu for a supercharged is200. I got a quote on an is200 supercharged for 980.. Thats with girlfriend and all on it.

Sean

Yep, as I said I got a quote for the s/c IS200 no problem.......... mine worked out at €1,170 or thereabouts, problem is that when you try to take out the policy and they realise the s/c IS200 is not available in Ireland............ they request that your aftermarket s/c is approved by Lexus !!!

Now I haven't contacted Lexus but I very very very much doubt they will approve any modification to their car even if its a TTE compressor :crybaby:

Try these for insurance........... I dont know anything about them so you're on your own

http://www.dolmen-insurance.ie/

Top quote 1890 788 787

Here's some info from a previous post of mine which includes the web address for Toyota Team Ireland............... as I said, no replies to my emails :duh:

Keep me informed

there are a lot of car insurance companies out there that do decent deals. I would try and call them all up and compare. Time consuming but its worth it for a copuple of hundred quid.

here are some you can try. before you ask I don;t have their details. just google the names as they all have websites.

admiral

privilege

bell direct

aplan

liverpool victoria

direct line

waht about your irish car magazines? if they are like the uk maxpower there are insurance adverts in the back of there??

some tips:

always call up and don't settel for online quotes as there would be a difference.

adding a wife/spouse drops the premimum

having kids does so too

limited mileage if you dont use it every day

a tracker doesn't always reduce the premium by much but some companies won't quote unless you have one (privilege)

with NIG through adrian flux broker.........all mods declared etc
