How Much Does Does It Cost

had to make a delivery this afternoon to an office block

in kent, i arrived just before 5.00 and had about 15 large boxes,

i could carry 2 at a time so they werent heavy.

there were 2 sets of doors into the foyer, of which i couldnt prop open, so

i had to open the first set, go through before opening the second set.

due to the time a lot of staff were leaving, mainly women, i held the door open as i was going through for them, even with my hands full, and not even a thankyou.

One women watched me struggle throught the first doors then let the second set shut behind her.

And women say we arent gentleman, i wonder why

Im not saying all women are like this, but it did annoy me.

it costs nothing to say thank you.

rant over.

This is one of my pet hates too John, one of the ex's used to slate me as she said she had to wait too long for me as I'd stand and hold the door for people, it costs nothing to say please and thank-you.

On a similar note on the M1 the other night someone pulled out in front of me in the fast lane who was doing 50 (I was doing 85) and I had to literally smash the brakes otherwise I'd have hit him and there would have been an accident - he'd not used his mirrors or indicated - I got the finger from him - I won't say what happened next but let's say he'll have needed to have changed his clothes when he got home, had his car valeted and he'll be more careful in future :o

haha maybe!!

Im sure it would have made him think twice about cutting you up again in the future..

As for manors, there seems to be a distinct lack of them with 75% of the population I come into contact with :(

i have allways found that its not just women

although they are a higher percentage

office workers seem to think that they are one above everyone else, especially when you are not dressed in a suit and tie

one way of getting back at them is to say "thank you" at them.......loudly

they soon get the point :winky:

That's very true Barrie, a lot of office workers at our place seem to be on an ego trip wearing the suit and tie at times - not everyone is like that, but a high majority at our place are!

It's quite interesting actually as I'm a techie thru and thru, not the sort of person who you would have as customer facing, you take me as you find me if you know what I mean, but it's great at work when someone doesn't realise who I am and I have to admit I enjoy nothing more than ripping someone apart who is clueless and thinks they are above me - has happened a few times

Can be quite amusing when I have to pull rank
