Hey peeps,

Currently in London on a 3 day training course.....I'm staying in the EC1A area, near the Barbican tube station.

Just wanted to know if there are any good restaurants/bars/things to do on a evening in this area?, first time I have ever been in this area...

Cheers

Venture over to Liverpool Street and there is a whole host of bars and bits. Thursday night in London is a biggy - especially around there.

Have a look in The Pitcher & Piano and also the Light Bar (which is just down the road from there).

There are a couple of pubs on that side of the road also - the names evade me at the moment (usually been too battered to take much notice !)

Plenty to see and do around there. If you want a club or something for later then try Fabric in EC1, Abucus on Cornhill (great little club but gets busy) or try Agenda which is in Minster court (just around the corner from the Barbican) any black cab will take you straight to these.

Enjoy ! :D

the Light Bar

have really blurry memories of there :duh: :duh:

barman was a friend of a friend - we spent quite a few nights in there and always left very drunk (usually in the direction of Brick Lane :D )

Try and get upstairs if you can (if its not a private affair) - its a bit quieter and more refined, less of a cattle market - and much more chance of being served

also take a trip around the cannon street area, also in blackfriars there are a couple of interesting pubs and bars around there including the very weird themed pub near st pauls.

That eeriepubco has some right weird ales !! Tracey used to work at St Pauls so we went in there a couple of times.

The light bar is good - thursday and friday nights they now have a dj up there.

I have always been trashed when I've come out of there.

I do miss the london social life :(

i realy miss working in blackfriars, when we were building Times square in queen vic street we went out 3 times a week for 18 months! each time on a different companies credit card - as it was part of our contract with mace to have a night out for each company each month and as there were 12 companies it worked out pretter good!
