I recently bought an IS 200 sport, and I'm very happy with the car.

I made a little more than 8000 km, and as natural in the km's I had push a bit harder the engine. I find that the engine drunk a bit of oil. For the use I made it seems natural but I would like your opinion about this.

The has 120 000 km at the moment

Regards

How much is "a bit of oil"?

Higher km engines will generally drink more oil

For example in the users manual of the W124 Mercedes is says that it's normal that the engine drinks 1 litre of oil per 1000km(!). Of course that don't apply here, but it's normal if an engine drinks "a bit of oil"...

  • 1 month later...

Translation:

Bit of oil - 0,5l in 8000 km (some hard driving)

I bought the car to a Lexus dealer, and they told that the car was a long period of time parking (more than 3 months)

After that I refill with more oil and since then it's appears to be ok.

I made 4000 km more without changing the level of oil in the dipstick.

I know that oil consumption is "natural" under certain levels but I'm still worried about.

In my experince oil consumption is neglible @ 120000kms. provided you use synthetic oil & always allow the engine to reach operational temperatures Before you start driving hard.
