Is300 Starting Problems

Since the weather started getting colder I have had problems starting my 9month old IS300 - it regularly takes a couple of turns of the key.

The dealer rang Lexues technilca and they said it could be fixed by reprogamming the engine control system. They are waiting for a special lead and will then be doing this.

In the meantime has anyone else had this problem, if so have you had it fixed successfully?

I've had similar problems with my 200, where on a few occasions the engine will not fire - taking several turns and pumping to get it going.

Me too on my IS200. The garage ran a diagnostics test when it went in for serviceing. It didn't find anything but since the service, it's been running perfectly.

Our IS300 has always taken a few turns of the engine to start from cold in the mornings.

Always seems fine after that, so can't say if there's the same problem.

Recently had it serviced but didn't make any difference - something I don't have an issue with though as it behaves faultlessly the rest of the time.

I forward it to my dealer, he told me, we didn't have the news yet.

Will see if I have the same problem with mine during this winter.

I have the cold start problem with my IS300. I shall now be contacting my dealer, about it, amongst other things.

starting problems with the IS300 are well known with Lexus

I had exactly the same on my sportcross 300, phoned the dealer (Lexus Cambridge), brought it in the next day and they reprogrammed

the ECU, been fine ever since.

sorry to dig up an old thread. My IS300 is having difficulty starting in the morning now as well, having to try 3 times with a bit of gas before it kicks into life in the morning, but once it is hot, it will start no problem. So just a follow up, did the ecu upgrade solve the problem? I assume only Lexus has this upgrade, if so can I ask how much did it cost?
