my other point is quite prevalent though, a lot of english are only patriotic during the world cup...

how do you know that ?

I dont know about you barrie... but i hear the conversations people have.. and they see football support as more of a tribal thing than patriosm for their country ;)

of course, perhaps around your way, everyone is patriotic year round... :shifty:

I personally dislike flags on cars. but people are welcome to do what they want.. as long as it doesnt fall off and damage my car.

What if it was a Lexus flag? WOuld you still dislike flags on cars? Now that's an idea of a genuine Lexus accessory :tomato:

yes i would, i think (imo) that they look tacky. i have nothing against people putting all sorts of stick on tat on their car, i just dont like it.

who are you listening to ? how can they see it as tribalism ,

supporting your country`s football team is exactly that, the fact that it is your country`s team makes it patroitic

as i previously said just because you dont wear flags all year round, doesnt mean that you are not patriotic, its not something that you could generally tell about someone, so how is any one meant to know wether someone is patriotic or not

The world cup comes along every 4 years.

A lot of people who "wear" the flags on their cars are not neccessary football fans.

I have seen a lot of women drivers with flags on their cars.

They are just showing support for their country.

A lot of people who can't be at the games in Germany due to work commitments are waving the flag.

It would be a sad state of affairs if people did NOT show support for their country.

I quite like the flag waving and I beleive it is more evident because of the recent good weather.

I don't have a flag on the Lex but I do have one on the house.

Nobody is an "idiot" or a "chav" just because they support their country.

If you want to wave the flag then wave it. If you don't then don't.

It surely isn't hurting anyone if you do. Most of all for most people it's a bit of fun.

Surely all Lexus owners are not Victor Meldrews. Are they?

I worked for a marketing agency that did a profile of the typical Lexus owner in the UK (this is back when the IS had only just been launched, so mostly based on GS and LS folks).

The profile was white, middle class, 50+ years of age, and fairly affluent. Victor Meldrew

Didn't it also say 'pastime usually golf' or was that another one? I'm three of the four, but what's 'middle class' nowadays?
