Hi all

Recently purchased a Mk1 GS300 Sport and wondered how you would rate the heated seats. The lights on the switches come on when in use but there is not a great deal of heat and only around the lower back area. Is this normal or is something bust?

Thanks

Mark

Not has hot as those I had in the Carlton, but in that car you would get a sweaty crack.

The heat is fine as I had to compare them, but I tend not to use them as leather soon heats up when you sit on it. - I guess leather over material makes a difference as well.

If you do use the heaters, remember to treat the leather more frequently if you have it.

I'm still looking for a pointer as I'm not sure the heated seats are working. Can anyone confirm if you need to have anyone sitting in the seat to activate the system. I've run the passenger seat on when I've been on my own and there is no way it's being heated in that situation.

With the seat I'm in I can't notice any difference between when it's on or off as leather seats seem quite good at retaining my own body heat.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

MAC

Never used mine.

Plays havoc with the old farmers.

Not very good on the ole Cockney rhyming slang.... !!

I loooovvvvve my heated seats. I am ashamed to say it's one of the reasons I was first attracted to Lexus (well, at least it wasn't the colour of car!)

My seats work when your not sitting on them, well the passenger side one does anyway

Thanks for that - that's what I needed to know to make sure. Wondered if it was like seatbelt warning lights/sounds, only activated if someone is in the seat.

I have a MKII GS430 and have to say that the heated seats are a bit lame if you want them to heat up to a level that causes blisters (like my wife does). Frankly I like the subtle heating effect but can fully understand the point you are making. They really don't work all that well.

Just posted really to let you know it is the same in my car as well (it maybe year of manufacture related).

I was going to start a thread on this, but found this one.

I've noticed the same thing with my '96 GS300 Sport that Mac 600 described: you can feel my drivers seat heat up on the seat and the lower back, but I can't feel my passenger seat at all. My Dad has a '95 GS300 and his passenger seat works like my driver's seat, so I'm inclined to say my passenger seat doesn't work. :(

Is there any test/diagnostic to see whether it's working or not?

Are there seperate fuses for each seat and one could've blown?

How easy/expensive is it to fix heated seats, what does it entail?

Any information greatly received.

Sorry to add to the confusion and tell you nothing useful, but I have the same problem. I've a 97 Mk 1 with a pleasantly warm driver's seat and a complaining wife who can't feel any heat from her rear area on the passenger side. I'd love to cheer her up this winter with a warm bot. might it just be a fuse and if so how do I find it to replace it?

:crybaby:
