Radio Reception

Recommended Posts

Just got my IS200 and I must say one thing I'm not impressed with is the radio. The Panasonic in my old Xedos got good reception all the way along the A303 from Honiton to Andover no problem; the radio in the Lexus cuts out all over the place. Even driving round Guildford town centre, the thing keeps cutting in and out.

Is this typical or have I got a problem?

I think you may have a problem here.

I haven't been around the particular areas you are talking about, but I go all over the country and haven't had any problems at all. Actually I've been quite impressed with it.

Go over the antenna connections or have it checked at the dealer.

The radio in mine is frankly pants.

The reception is very crackly almost everywhere (particularly on local radio stations). Even strong signals like the BBC nationals are poor.

I had the left tweeter replaced under warranty as I thought it was that orginally.

The older series stereo sounded much better, and the radio reception wasn't as irritating. It seemed to suffer more with the RDS "retuning" interruptions (short breaks in sound) every so often though.

If you turn it up *really* loud, it's not too bad on CDs tho.

Sounds like an aerial problem guys.

You could try checking the antenna is screwed on tightly, and that the threads are not corroded. If these are ok, you may want to check that the amplifier, in the base of the aerial, has got a 12v supply to it. This can be done by removing the nearside rear "D"pillar panel, there you can locate the aerial trigger wire(BLACK WIRE) where it runs up to the aerial. Probe it with a multimeter or test probe, and it should read 12volts when the radio is switched on.

Hope this is some help ! :hocus-pokus:
