Insurance For Is200 With Styling Kit

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Due to be buying a IS200 Sport with the styling kit, and was wondering a few things about the insurance.

First of all how much would I be looking at to insure it.

Im 21 (22 a month after I get the car), with just over 4 yrs NCB, 3 of which are those named drivers NCB with Direct line, so I have to stay with them really.

Secondly, because im with direct line, Im a bit worried about the styling kit, because they wont insure modified cars for under 25s. So is the styling kit classed as a mod, or just as a factory option?

Cheers guys and I hope you bring good news.

For a 21 yr old, with 4 yrs NCB, Directline have quoted 650. And my policy runs out in November, so Id only have to shell out to cover it for the next 6 months (im having the car late May early June).

The car Im having had it fitted from new. Do you think they would class it as a mod, or just as a specification, because on Parkers website, they've got it listed as a seperate specification, but that might just be to take in account for the buying/selling price difference.

Really hope this isnt gonna all go tits up,lol, really fallen for the car, and already done the deal, was just thinking about it last night and got worrried.

Cheers

I had the styling kit fitted to my car a few months ago, and it costs me an extra £30 on my policy with Admiral. I'm 24 with 1 yrs no claims, so should be the same if not less for you.

I was with Directline about a year ago, and they had no problem with modifications - have they changed their policy?

Only other thing is that the styling kit was never a factory fitted option, it was fitted after the car arrives in the UK - however I see no reason why that should make any difference, it should still be classed as the original spec of the car.

anything under £1k is good for a young driver id say. Im age 20 (21 in 2 months) with 1 years no claims. Silly me wanted a Mazda RX8 so had to go with a small specialist insurance company for young drivers with fast cars paying £3500 for the year. 7 Weeks later got rid of the car to cut my debts and got a lexus again (high milage) to find that my insurance company would only refund me £1k so I was forced to stick with them as £2k for 7 weeks insurance is a stinger. They then said they would give me £60 back to insure the lexus. The lexus being valued at £4500 on a W reg (group insurance 12/13) against the RX8 worth £12k (group 16/17)... What a joke!!!!

Well ive had to cut my losses and cant wait to move away from this insurance company. Another reason for my insurance to be steep is because I wrote my V Reg lexus off last year into a brick wall caused 10k damage so as you can imagine im high risk. Having said that... direct line quote me £1500 with the crash.

My previous insurance policy i crashed on cost me £1150 for the year which was good.
