Is200 - Engine & Chassis Types

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've been trying to find this out but can't seem to find a break down. I'm just wondering what the IS has in relation to its engine and chassis.

I know there are various chassis types such as SXE-10 and the GXE-10, but I don't know which one is which. Same goes for the engines - 3GSE or something?

If anyone can clear this up, it may be worth listing the others as well (for the Altezza range).

Many thanks,

Jamie

as far as i understand the SXE chassis is fitted with the 3-GSE engine and the GXE chassis refers to the 1G-fe engine. i hope this helps.

But the above is correct then?

Is that right mate, what you have said above? The RS200 (SXE-10) is a supercharged version of the IS200 (GXE-10)?

Jamie

Nah sorry i was just comparing the performance of the 2!! Aint no supercharger on a standard SXE-10! a supercharged IS200 GXE-10 is about the same BHP as a standard RS200 SXE-10. bit more torque from the supercharged IS. both pushing out about 210bhp. Hope that clears things up for you. All of the above are correct though :P

So it's:

IS200 - GXE-10 Chassis - 1G-FE Engine - 6 Cylinder

IS300 - JZXE-10 Chassis - 2JZ-GE Engine -

Altezza RS200 - SXE-10 Chassis - 3S-GE Beams Engine - 4 Cylinder

Altezza AS200 - GXE-10 Chassis - 1G-FE Engine - 6 Cylinder

Correcto? :D

Jamie

Yes that's quite right

First Letter = Engine family

XE = Platform

-1 = First generation

0 = RWD

5 = AWD

so that makes

GXE-10 = 1G-FE engine = Toyota Altezza AS200 / Lexus IS200

GXE-15 = 1G-FE engine = Toyota Altezza AS200 Gita AWD

SXE-10 = 3S-GE engine = Toyota Altezza RS200

SXE-15 = 3S-GE engine = Toyota Altezza RS200 Gita AWD

It appears that the chassis code for the IS300 is not following the standard chassis naming.

It should be (and it appears with this scheme on some documents)

JZXE-10 = 2JZ-GE engine = Toyota Altezza AS300 / Lexus IS300

JZXE-15 = 2JZ-GE engine = Toyota Altezza AS300 Gita AWD

but the most used code (even used in workshop manuals) is

JCE-10 = 2JZ-GE engine = Toyota Altezza AS300 / Lexus IS300

JCE-15 = 2JZ-GE engine = Toyota Altezza AS300 Gita AWD

I notice that reference doesn't include the Chiltern Green of my GS.

Anyone know where else that colour was available? My GS brochure I've got from 2002 lists the colour as 'special build' in the back - which presumably makes it a pretty rare choice. I've only ever seen one other car in the colour in the metal, and only ever on 2 cars on the Lexus used cars website.

Shame, it's a nice colour, slate grey in some lights and pale green in others. Enhances the 'Q-car' status quite nicely! :)

I don't know, I have only seen 1 on Lexus used cars website with grey leather and it looked superb. I did not even know it has been produced in this color until I see the picture
