Hi Darren here. i just sold my 96 integra type r and am looking to buy an altezza. They are such a nice car. Any way ive seen a few nice examples but i have seen two that confuse me a bit. one a 00 is badged as a lexus with lexus steering wheel,wheels,etc but it has the rs200 beams engine. And the other one a 98 again has the lexus badges but it has the altezza steering wheel and wheels although speedo/rev cluster is different. it says lexus tte on it instead of altezza and the speed and revs clocks are in the opposite place than most ive seen. Does this sound right or is it just a case of the previous little jap owner sticking badges on and changing stuff.

any help would be great. thanks

Hi and welcome to LOC.

There at 2 models of Altezza the AS200 which is the same as the IS200 and the RS200 as you know. They both have BEAMS on the engine cover.

Many Tezzas get re-badged to Lexus, I don't know why, but to date I have never seen one with the steering wheel changed. Not many people would go to that length. Are you sure that the 00 plate one is not an IS with the AS engine cover fitted?

The second one has an after market instrument cluster fitted with a big rev counter on the middle, can never remember if it's TTE or TRD that make them though.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think i will forget about those two and look for something else. i dont want really to buy a car that had its clocks changed, i wont know if it the mileage is genuine. A 98 with only 36k klms. It doesnt sound right. And im not sure what the deal is with the lexus so Ill leave that. I think I will just try find a genuine standard altezza with the TRD kit and not much else done to it.

Welcome to the site mate, There is plenty of original altezza's for sale on carzone.ie so i wouldnt go near any with lexus badges etc, because it could end up being an as200, which you dont want.

there is a few lads over on Tezzaworld selling Altezza's might be worth a look. Pm me if you want a link as i don't want to link to another site here! :shutit:
