Best Xenon/hid For Is200?

i was told my HID's had no beam pattern whatsoever? can that be right?? just put stock bulbs in for MOT, but that still baffles me...

Yes this can be totally correct. But should be easily solvable by yourself. The most likely cause of this is that light emitting centre of the HID is not sitting in the same position as the bulb was. This will throw the beam pattern right out.

To cure this park the car up against a wall, turn the lights on and unlatch the HID from the headlamp. Then move it around (in and out mainly) until you see a very crisp cut off on the beam. There should be light below 0° and no light above 0° on a horizontal line running right from the centre (*** this is hard to explain), on the left on the beam a crisp cut off should be seen running about 10° up radially.

In other words imagine a clock face saying ten to three. the cut off of the light is where the hands would be with all the light being below.

Once you have the HID in the right position for that then look at how the HID is sitting in the headlamp and you will need to make a spacer to hold the HID in that position.

If none of that works, the only other thing it may be (and I can't confirm this at the moment), is if the headlamp has a metal shield in it (looks like a little bulb cover) that may be missing.

Let us know how you get on

Just fitted my kit this morning... also plug "n" Play..

Sourced from Ebay at £44 inc delivery.... but will probably have about £10 customs charges to pay later.

Arrived 12 days after sale, which is pretty good.

So far, very happy with them.

John

I haven't seen these on eBay, can you post a linky ?

Here is a link to what I bought..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HID-XENON-CONVERSION...emZ300151863295

they come with 18 months warranty.

The shipping price has gone up slightly, but it is still only £46 in total..

I still haven't received any customs charges, but even so, it won't be any more than a tenner.

My view is that all the kits are made in China/Hong Kong anyway, and rebadged/boxed for different suppliers. why pay more for the same thing.

That link is for the 9006 bulb.. which is correct for my GS300 low beam.

I am not sure on the type of bulb on an IS200, but the seller does all the various types anyway.. including the Bi-Xenon type, although they are slightly more expensive.

Fitting is just plug and play, so even the missus could have done it :)

Ok I've just checked my IS and I suspect the bulb cover has fallen off. It must be in the lamp and maybe you knocked it off whilst fitting the other bulbs. Its a small metal shield that sits over the bulb but is attached to the headlamp. Normally it is sprung to just be held in position by its legs. Check for that mate.

It should be in the headlamp. You may have to get the headlamp off to fish it out. Just press the legs in to put it back in position, HOWEVER it must be the right way round. The legs should be offset to ensure you do it right but may not, so check the beam against the wall as you do it.
