.... a couple of gallons of fuel in a container stuck away somewhere in the boot?

Would the constant vibrations from bumpy roads be a cause for concern?

Arent the Green (the ISO ones) containers you buy from Halfords etc designed to be in the boot and bumped about a bit? I have one and carry it in my boot strapped down and have never had any problems with it.

There's an accessory in the mainland european brochure which may be of use.

Fits in the spare wheel and includes a fuel container.

I've got a green can I bought for my 2nd Honda (the lawnmower!) and even after only a few minutes in the boot it absolutely stinks and that's without spilling any.

I always carry an extra couple of litres around in my fuel tank. That way, I don't have to stand out like a chump in the cold and wet looking to oncoming motorists like I'm taking a whizz in my fuel tank
