Timing Belt

When is the IS 200 sport due a timing belt? Anyone know. It is a 02 model and has done little over 50k on the clock.

You should get belt and tensioner fitted not just belt. I believe for the parts you can purchase them for around £100 and then i think it is about 3 hours labour.

Lexus changed the schedule, the timing belt (with tensioner and idler) should now be changed at 100k or when the car is 6 years old, whichever comes first.

service books do, but it has been found that the tensioner starts to fail first causing un even wear on the belt, so the reduced the overall period to prevent possible failure

Lexus Belfast quoted me yesterday £285.00 including labour and VAT for replacing the belt. Tensioner is additional £44.00. Afternoon job for next Tuesday. This is the second belt change. The first was at 100K miles and I wouldn't like to risk that milage again having seen the condition of the belt that was removed. Milage is now at 160K miles.

I'd suggest new belt, tensioner, & idler pulley.

Anything less is false economy in my opinion.

You could always get a Power Enterpise kevlar belt for extra piece of mind

All done today. Worked out sweet. No fuss. 3 hours in total.
