Can Anyone Explain This To Me?

It's happened twice now in the last week or so, im pulling off in 1st gear then all of a sudden it feels like something is holding the car back and feels extremley slow. When it happens i get one of my dash lights come on, it's the one inbetween the airbag light and the 'TRAC OFF' light - a picture of a car with skid marks behind it? Only happens for a few secs then goes back to normal. At first i thought it was the traction control kicking in but i wasn't pulling off particularly fast and it's a dry sunny day

My car is a 99 SE.

Well it's definitely the "Slip Indicator" light that you're describing. When the Traction Control system is applied, this little orange light comes on, and you may also hear a whirring sound.

If the Traction Control is cutting in even when you are pulling away gently on a dry road, then it may be a faulty sensor? If so, that may be a job for your local dealer
