Thats the trouble in trying to place a premium on the value of these type of reg's - Its illegal to space them so that they actually mean anything - and more and more people are getting stopped because of it.

A little off topic but I think the DVLA are very hypocritical in a way - They state you need correct spacing and you can be fined/lose the plate entirely etc if you mis-represent - but then they sell plates on their own site at a premium because if they were mis-spaced they would mean something......particularly plates like xx51 NGH and they obviously feel the need to place a premium on the x16 XUS series of plates - again, knowing you would have to mis-space to make it mean anything.

A private plate is only worth what someone will pay for it. You can have the plate 'RR 1' and if someone's only willing to pay a tenner, that's all it's worth. I had a plate on my old car (from the factory so pure fluke) of BL02LLX - valued at £1700 - never sold so actual value is £zero.

RR is my initials, so i'd give £300 for RR 1
