Automatic Transmission Fluid

Just been checking fluid levels and noticed a label on the ATF dipstick which states "Use Type II fluid or equivalent" does anyone else have this info on their UK spec model?

hi steve, mines a uk spec 1995, and as you say "use type 11 or equivalent" also confirmed in hand book on back page.

Its one of my jobs this year lol. (dreading it)

It's now Type IV.

According to a lot of people on here, generic auto fluid isn't really good enough and you should source the proper Toyota ATF.

I telephoned Lexus at Stockport and was told that they use DEXRON 3

Delete the word 'really' and replace 'should' with 'must'! ;-)

As for Lexus Stockport, that ought to be enough to lose them their franchise. (I suspect that last year they were a Vauxhall dealer, and next year they'll be a Honda dealer. All under the same name. So of course they'll know everything!)
