Cd-based Sat Nav

Recommended Posts

I'm about to to buy an IS 200 Sport (~2000 model) and wondered how good the CD-based sat nav system is. As the software must getting on for three years old and things have (presumably) moved on, would I be better off using one of the IPAQ or aftermarket systems?

Hi Zilched,

Was told by a lexus dealer recently, that you can purchase up-to-date cd roms for the older style nav systems. Down side is they're £150 a disc.(could always buy one and copy it for everyone else)...

Does purchasing a new CD also update the software? How does the functionality and calculation speed of the Lexus CD Sat Nav compare to other newer systems? eg Entering destinations, voice prompts, etc

I use the Sat Nav on my 2000 IS 200 all the time. On the whole very impressed only gripes would be that the data is out of date. It doesn't know the M60 around Manchester is complete and that I did have a few errors, but cleaning the disc soon fixed that.
