Weird Air Con Problem

Recommended Posts

iv had a few niggly problems for a while and decided its time to sort them all out and i have a really strange problem with my a/c

the unit itself blows properly and temperatures are all correct with the temp dial the problems come when i turn th A/C button on

first prob:

the passanger side of the car blows really cold air as it should) but the drivers side is nowhere near as cold, so al the vents on the passanger side including the left hand cener vent are fine but the vents on the drivers side and the right center vent seem to have a problem that they dont blow nowhere near as cold

second prob:

if i keep the A/C button on and select a mid range temp say 24 on the dial after a while steam/smoke/mist (or whatever it is) blows from the center vents too

not ure if both are relaed but with this one i dont know where to start so any help greatly appreciated

i would ssay the mist is because the the drain for the aircon condensation is blocked - u need to blow it thru with compressed air....

needs to be done from underneath.

for your other problem there have been a few people mentioning he same problem but none have come back with a solution

rob

how would i go about blowing it through from underneath

and the second point i did see a few posts about the vents blowing different temps but they all seemed to be about blowing hot air one side and cold air the other apart from my above problem they seem to distribute warm/hot air the same

u need to remove the long under body panels RH one i think and u will see the drain for the air con sticking out - best run the aircon for a while and follow the water trail - then get an airline and blow it thru as it sounds that the pipe is blocked - alternative is to try clear the line with a piee of flexible wire

  • 1 year later...

Side closest to evaporator will be colder.

I have seen during a low charge state considerable temperature differences from one side to the other.

Mist out of vent can be caused by evaporator freezing up due to malfunctioning expansion valve.

When this happens more times then not the a/c will quit working (blowing cold) until the evaporator thaws then the system works normal once again.

Check the sight glass for bubble which would indicate a low charge.
