Shock Horror My Ls400 Has Gone Wrong

Hi all I am really miffed,

I went out last night started the car, Turned on the lights went to the boot & to my horror I discovered 1 of the number plate bulbs was out, to make matters worse I had to replace a brake light bulb several months ago. Now 1 bulb in a year could be a fluke but 2 on a quality brand like a lexus I find totally un acceptable, You would think they could scource bulbs that would last longer than 10 years.

Do you think if I complained to lexus HQ they might give me a ls600 in some way towards compensation, As this matter with the bulb caused me a great deal of stress 1 trying to remember where I left my screwdriver & then when eventually finding it having to clean the rust off it. I would comprimise & accept a ls600 a few months old.

I thought I would air my thoughts on here or do you think I might have to write to the motoring press to get a result.

Any help in this disturbing matter will be greatly appreciated ( some beer tokens donated would also help me drown my sorrows )

I had exactly the same problem with a brake light!

But the quality of the 17 year old rust-free rear light cluster assembly, the ease with which the bulb holder came off, just knowing I was working on something that wasn't built to a price to just last the warranty, made the whole experience worthwhile.

Quite looking forward to the next bulb going

(How many other car forums are reduced to silly posts about bulbs, as opposed to major problems?)

You'll be pleased to know then, due to extensive research and development, and the cost of giving away LS600's. Lexus now attempt to install LED's where practical. Thus saving such future hassles with rusty tools

I'd see if BBC Watchdog will take on your story. Hopefully they could sway lexus to do a worldwide recall to replace the faulty bulbs ;)

Think you need to lie down in darkened room to recover from the shock.

It will give you strength in case you need a wiper blade.

Strength in numbers might help in this sad tale of shoddy build quality. Perhaps I could be added to a list of complainants as I noticed yesterday that my ashtray was full.

Have you tried a claim under warranty, those LS's had lifetime warranties didn't they?
