Bought a dash-cam on eBay for a few quid (Chinese) its very compact & fits to the windscreen like a sat-nav.

The pictures & sound are great as is the zoom You can also take snapshots all of which can be downloaded to your computer via the SD Card

So don't carve me up cos I'll have you on candid camera

Looks good. I've never had one but I'm tempted. However, round here, the videos would be extremely boring and nothing like those extreme Russian road incident compilation videos that people occasionally post over on TZ-UK. Also, there was a video on the Guardian site yesterday of a baby being thrown (not deliberatly) from a car window during an accident - all caught on one of these cameras.

Just found the link but can't seem to embed it, so here's the long version:

cheers for the link, looked on the bay and found this 1,so bought it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360543704669 bit more dosh but comes with a remote and rear camera.

I've got this one. Audio recording is an option on this model. The rear camera isn't as good quality (at night - fine of a day) but still 100% better than nothing.

Here is an example of Front camera quality at night. (from October I copied) Switch it to 720p to see its quality. I'll upload a rear one tomorrow.

I bought a holder for my Iphone, originally to fit to the dash vents, but I didn't like it so I used the windscreen sucker. It has a cut out on the back for the camera, and I thought to myself "what use is that" - until I realised it's perfect for using the phone to video the guy being a tw@t in front of me driving like a tit. £4, and I already had the phone.

I'm impressed with the quality Geoffers. You had a chance to put the rear cam shot also have you got a vid for the day time quality. I fancy getting one for my trip to Europe coming up.

I got this same camera, just be careful in the summer as I left mine in the window and the heat has destroyed it. It's not melted on the outside...

Oh poo. What melted - the casing plastics or the camera lens plastics?

Nothing! That was the thing, I think the heat caused damage to the internals somehow... it looks the same as when I got it from the outside...

2nd video - love how you just incriminated yourself for sitting in a yellow box

Nope.

Not in force - you can't see the signs. It was in front of an old school gate a few years ago. Then they built Tesco's opposite and put traffic lights there. :P

I wondered if anyone would jump on that.

I don't think you need a sign to define if a yellow box is in force or not - if it's painted on the road, it's in force, and if it's not in force then it's supposed to be removed (at least, as I understand it)

???? You want proof? I'm not getting into that sillyness. There is a lot going on on that road and its changing weekly at the moment with all sorts of temporary lights, signs, etc. because of new housing estate being built while demolishing the school and completing Tesco's. The residents are in arms over it and its always making the local papers. It just seemed quite clear that day.

Where gave you mouted the front and rear cam and how have you run the cables?

Camera main unit just behind the rear view mirror, slightly to the drivers side. The rear camera is in the middle of the rear window.

I took the wires under the dash, out to the right of the drivers door and up the A pillar. Across the roof lining and out of the front by the mirror. The rear cam I took from the front mirror, along the same track as the power, right along the drivers side roof lining to the rear, then out near the middle of the rear window. You can easily push something from the outside edges into the middle of the windows to get the cables through.

It's the same for the 200 as the 250. I ran some cables into the roof when I did full closure on my 200.

The only thing you MUST be careful of is the curtain bag so make sure the cables are secure and don't cross it in any way to get tangled.
