I like the idea of what it supposed to do. Unlike regular fuel additives it is meant to totally de-carbonise your engine. This will only help things if it really can do this. There is another product on the market that does the same thing. By a company called BG Products. Similar concept, except the additive is fed in through the induction system instead of the injection system. But still de-carbonises the engine. I know of a couple of guys - not Lexus - who have used the BG products induction clean and claim a noticeable difference. I am always weary of the placebo effect with things like this though. I'm not saying it doesn't work, but I do prefer hard data than someone who is convinced their engine is better after spending X amount of money.

Personally I use a water injection system which will also de-carbonise an engine. Given what I have just said it is hard for me to show you hard data :D but the decor effect is noticeable It smoked like a trooper for the first 1000 or so miles after installation. - Again, not a Lexus.

Meant to say this before but I was a bit pushed at work.

Have you considered the products from Power Enhancer? Namely a can of BG244 to clean your top end, injectors, carbon deposits and the DPF. One tin into 50 litre fill up. There is also a Toyota product in a similar vein.

Then you could try AR6200 fuel additive at 5ml per 50 litres. That used to work out around 60p.

There is also a product by Wynns and by Forte.

Always use all the above from power enhancer but for 70-100 quid it can't do any harm also use DPF cleaner too so my car is well looked after

I have done some extensive reading on this. The only criticism seems to be that it will not clean the intake valves on direct injection engines like ours. I can see a product on the US website which can be used in addition to this to clean the intake valves.

I will get in touch with Terraclean tomorrow to inquire if they have this intake cleaner available in the UK. If yes, I'll be happy to be the guinea pig for the Lexus community. :)

Let us know what they say I'm really interested in getting it done... There is a garage in Cupar who do it and its only 30mins drive from me..also good to know about the intake valves.. I wouldn't have known otherwise :)

I spoke to Xavier Auto Clinic in Hammersmith today who is my nearest Terraclean agent. They do not have the intake cleaner. I have sent an email to Terraclean UK now and awaiting response.

Meanwhile I did some further reading and it seems like water is a very safe and progressive way to decoke the intake valves and cylinders. In theory you just spray the intake with small quantities of water when the engine is hot. This turns to steam and gradually gets rid of all the carbon. Sounds very simple but I have no idea how to do it..!

My first problem will be knowing where the intake is lol in all honesty I have yet to remove the engine covers and look at the engine in the flesh... Post some photo when u do try it, will help the less car savy amongst us :)
