After Market Parking Sensors?

Hi all

What are your thoughts on aftermarket parking sensors?

I didn't plump for the factory fitted ones (a bit over priced at nearly £600) so I am looking at aftermarket ones. I am not a DIY'r so I want a company that will come and fit them too.

I have seen Dolphin ones on the web that also have a little monitor on them and they get good reviews but anyone used them or anything else?

I did make mention of this a few weeks ago. I have aftermarket sensors that were ridiculously cheap but are excellent, they even look OK. I absolutely depend on them as the LS has a big bum! Coupled with a (also ridiculously cheap) reversing camera it all makes parking so much easier.

Pray tell more about the aftermarket ones and where you can get them please asap - as I ordered my CT yesterday the paperwork does not go through till tomorrow (Monday) it is one with the parking sensors as have them on current car and worth every penny.

However if aftermarket ones are far less than the £560 Lexus quote, may change it over if I can!

Dont get ripped off. Its simple technology these days and a basic set with beeper will be around £10 or £12. You can get ones with monitors for more also wireless ones are a bit more. Im gonna get one with monitor in rear view mirror. Any local garage will fit them, or a mobile mechanic. Have a look on eBay, theres different colours too choose from

Mine cost £13 from eBay. The sensors (4) come in loads of colours and only very basic skills are needed to fit them in about an hour, simply wired into the reversing light. I can't say enough about them, they really are excellent.

Thanks guys

These were my thoughts too but I am not really keen to start drilling holes in a £24k car myself (I am rubbish at that kind of thing) and, call me old fashioned but I'm also not keen on buying Chinese knockoffs on eBay as not sure how long they would last. Hope yours are fine, I just want to moan at someone else if things go wrong.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to who I can get to come round and install them? There is a company you can find in the net if you type in 'parking sensors' into google. They will fit rear ones with a monitor for just over £150 or micro ones with 6 sensors for £189. Anyone used them or have others to recommend?

Cheers

you dont have to get them from eBay or from china, im mearly saying dont get ripped off. Theres a very reputal company in london that are at the right price. I find it amazing how some people still charge a arm and a leg for such a simple device. Parking sensors may of been a revolation 10 years ago but sonar technolgy is like fm now and the way they work is very basic, icould prob build the circuit myself....

My friend works in a vauxhall garage and fits these all day for customers. He told me the cheap ones are no different and is not a specialists job. What im saying is most garages will have plenty of experience fitting them without the need of a "specialist" If you want to spend nearly £200 on fitting parkings sensors for peace of mind tho then go for it.

I would prob get them fitted by someone. I also dont trust myself. Specifically drilling the holes the same height and equal distances apart

Sorry chaps, I hope you haven't taken me the wrong way.

I am just rubbish at anything DIY and if they break then getting them fixed would be hard. I have them in my wife's Shogan and they stopped working after just over a year, they were dealer fitted not factory fitted. I'm not sure how to check what has broken and my local mechanic said it would cost more in his time to find the problem than getting another set fitted.. There is talk about 'replacing a broken sensor' but when the beeps stop how do you know which one? (Told you I was rubbish)

I'm just looking for a company that won't rip me off and will fit them for me and that will give me some kind of comeback if they stop working. There is a lot of talk about this on other forums so if I find someone then I'll let you know

And as for china, I am a great fan. But eBay can catch you out sometimes

UPDATE

Just had Dennis from Parking Sensors .co .uk come and fit my sensors. Really professional job, they look great and work really well. I know I paid a little more than if I did it myself but they are guaranteed and I didn't need to get my hands dirty!!

Very pleased and would recommend to anyone (who can't do it themselves)

I'll let you all know if anything changes but really happy. Now on to the next mod???

i have used parkingsensors.co.uk 15 years ago fantastic system i bought them as a diy kit and never had any issues with them.

like anyone who is using them for the first time its a weird feeling putting all your trust in the sensors as your mind is telling you to stop

but the sensors are telling you to keep on going once you trust them then you wont be without them.
