If you plan to do this yourself you ought to read the link below. Pay close attention to the air circulation setting. You really don't want to break the plastic gear wheels by forcing something when it's in the wrong position.

It may also be a good idea to get one of those AC cleaning aerosols and set one off in the car to deodourize and kill off the bacteria within the AC system.

They cost around a fiver just follow the instructions on the can.

Is it a sharp vinegary smell?

For me it is... its annoying...

I did one day drive to work with AC on and temp set to 30 degree Celsius for atleast 25 mins.... (this something folks have suggested to try).. obviously i opened the windows so that i would fry inside the car.... it actually solved the AC smell issue for a months but now its returned with vengeance!

lexus chester told me to put a/c on cold for 10 mins full blast, then 10 mins. boiling hot then another 10 mins freezing cold.......done that, just the same.

Think i will have to pay a visit to get it deodarised.....£49.99 apparently !!

it used to happen to me when I kept turning AC on and OFF. since last 3 years I didn't have this problem as I keep the climate control on Auto and AC is always switch on.
