Sat Nav Help Please

Recommended Posts

I have a 2002 IS300 SportCross with the factory Sat Nav. When I first bought it, the Sat Nav was a bit patchy, frequently saying it couldn't read the disc, so I replaced it with one from Satnavi.com. This worked perfectly for a while, now I get a message saying there is no disc present. Also, occasionally, if I turn on the Sat Nav, it works for a few seconds before the message pops up again. Do I need a new DVD unit? Is it a case of unplugging the old one and reconnecting a replacement? Sorry for lengthy post, I did a quick search and couldn't really come up with anything, but I'd assume this is a relatively common problem? Thanks for any assistance.

Oh. I've tried that and it's had no effect whatsoever. The dvd still shows up for about 3 seconds then claims it can't be read. I'm really thinking I need to replace the dvd unit, now. Any other wise suggestions? :msn-cry:

unless it is just dirt on the lens of the laser then it does look like it is on its way out. Those CD cleaners don't always remove any film of dirt that has accumulated, they just brush off loose particles.

Breakers sell them for quite a bit of money, they also appear on eBay every now and then for at least a cheaper starting price however you have not guarantee how long a replacement unit would last.

This one may be the same as your one (please double check first)
