Boot Won't Open

Recommended Posts

Out the blue my boot mechanism is not popping the boot open. I can hear it clicking when I press the remote or use the lever but it's not popping up manually like it should. If I give it a good tug when i pop the lever it opens. Anyone else had this problem ? Could it be the latch ?

it may just need some lubrication.

Does it work correctly with the physical key?

I lubricated it with wd40, it's the same when I try the key as well. It just doesn't pop up atall. Like I said I can hear the mechanism working though . Does anyone know which part of the boot mechanism makes the boot actually pop up once activated ?

there is a torsion bar which give the boot lid some lift but I doubt it is that because you would just be able to lift it manually. If you are having to tug it then the striker is being restricted by the lock mechanism. Sounds like the lock needs some more lubrication, maybe first remove it from the vehicle.

Also make sure the striker on the boot lid hasn't been damaged or moved.

Just took the boot lining off and a small white plastic piece fell out ,it looks like it has a bit of a thread on it so I presume this could be the reason . I'll remove the lock tomorrow and grease it up. If not I'll order a new one as from what I can see everything is clicking and working everywhere else within the mechanism.
