Just wondered if anyone had a view on the long term availabilty of parts for the 400h. When I bought my first Rover 75 it was just before the Rover empire came tumbleing down a sad day indeed for the uk motor industry. That was around 2005 spares are still available but away from standard service items they are getting more difficult to attain and certainly becoming more expensive. Perhaps, not expensive by Lexus standards though if my new Battery cover is anything to go by.

My intention is to keep Lexi for at least five years so just wondered if any informed views. Hopefully the worlds largest motor manufacturer is safe from the fate that my last brand met and spares will be available going forward.

Hi Chris, I think you a safe for 5 years. The 400h only went out of production in 2009 and they were sold around the world with a large numbers in the US so even if you had to import items it should still be possible to get most things.

Do you specific items in mind?

Thanks Colin think certainly the main service items will be around for some time.

More of a concern would be some of the items specific to the Hybrid system such as some of the specialist cableing the orange ones etc.Much can

be done with trim and body work but its the unknown for me batteries inverters etc which are going to be big ticket items.

Feel a little vulnerable as living just a few miles from Lincoln I had Rimmer brothers on my door step who despite the demise of MG Rover in the Uk managed to source all things Rover 75.

Must say after a couple of weeks am realy warming to the car have been interested in the brand for a while and when the Rx was launched really liked it.

When I first started driving it the silence was eerie and it was a while before I began to trust the system. The sheer size of the car was

also strange at first but it is so easy to drive and the view from up there is fantastic. May sound daft but I have been travelling the same route to work for 18 years and am noticeing things along the way that I have never seen before.

Forums like this make a big difference to the ownership experience and the assistance is really appreciated particularly from people like you Colin.

All the best

Chris

Dont think we got anything to worry about for the foreseeable future yet, the genuine parts are readily available, even if they have to come from Japan it only takes a couple of weeks.

I work at a Toyota dealer and can still get parts for 1987 MR2's and even older Corolla's and Hilux. What does bug me is that i can get say front pads from Toyota for my RX but cant get the rear's as they are "lexus only" (and the parts turn up in Toyota packaging)

You are panicking/wprrying about aspects of the cars for no good reason. There is no suggestion that Lexus/Toyota will not stand by what is now one of their key lines, hybrid and they also stand by their cars generally for a long time. Dealer support remains good with adequate knowledge to assist you and will surely continue.
