Reversing Camera Help?

Hello everyone,

I used to have LX400, and after a (foolish) dalliance with Mercedes I am now safely back in the Lexus fold with a 2004 RX300.

Can anyone help with this query? When I select reverse gear the display changes to the rear camera but without the green/red guide lines which I believe should appear. Instead 'system not ready' is written accross the screen. Is this a known fault that anyone is aware of? All help much appreciated.

it sounds like the system need to be calibrated. I'll have a look to see if this is an easy thing to DIY, otherwise it might need some dealer love.

Thank you for your response Colin. Obviously the DIY solution would be preferable and I appreciate your looking into it. Do you think it is Main dealer love or are there people other than Lexus that could tackle it?

I'm afraid I haven't found a solution, and I haven't yet plucked up the courage to ask a main dealer how much.

Do we know if the 2004 model has the guide lines?

I would have thought so, but just in case there is no need to mend it, if it's not broken.

You should enter the hidden menu (info button +3 times lights switch simultaneously) and there you can calibrate the system (Incl. far left and right rotation of the steering wheel). Press MENU in the upper right corner and you'll see this:

Press "Camera check" and you'll enter this:

Then you just follow the onscreen instructions, but on your own risk - you can do some damage...

DO NOT PRESS AND CHANGE THE SETTINGS IN THE OTHER MENUS!

I have tried following your instuctions and when the calibration is done I press 'save'. (Although I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly). But the next time I put it in reverse I still get the 'system not ready' message. Thanks anyway for your help.

Does the system recognize the position of the steering wheel - max left or right?
