Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could answer me a couple of questions regarding the GS around the 2003ish year. Firstly according to the Parkers guide there's only 1mpg average difference between the GS300 and the GS430 is this about right? and secondly is the sport model still comfortable like the se or does it loose the floatability feeling because it's a sport.

Many thanks for any replies.

Brian

If it's like the IS series then yes the ride will be harsher in the sport, due to lower/stiffer suspension and the 18" wheels with low profile tyres. I have the gs300 se with standard suspension and 16" wheels. The ride is magic carpet like, not wallowy in any way.

I've owned a GS300 Sport and a GS430 Sport and fuel consumption wise they are very close. Can't comment on the ride of the Sport v Non-Sport models as I've never driven one. The Sports aren't what i'd class as harsh rides though, compared to other cars I've had that have been harsh.

I had a 300 and liked it so much I chopped it in for a 430. Petrol wise there's very little difference. Both mine were SE's so can't comment on Sport, that said both are comfy without being wallowy like certain MB's I've had in the past. Interior is a nice nice place to be, standard hi-fi is excellent, no rust and all the toys you need. Can't fault it.

The sport is still a great ride but handling is a definate plus over SE

Interesting....I've only driven an SE and I must say the handling is not too shabby :-)

When purchasing an old luxury car, do not worry so much about fuel consumption (they all equally bad in this).

GS300/430? Go for GS430. There is absolutely no arguments to favor gs300.

SE/SPORT? SE is smoother ride, but Sport handles a lot better in corners. Some insurers may try to charge more for "Sport" model.
