Engine Oil Offer Halfords ? Ends Xmas Day Midnight

This fully synthetic 5W/30 oil seems cheap at Halfords, at £10 for 4 litres. It is said to be suitable for Vauxhall/Saab etc, although given the correct viscosity ratings, I've never understood why certain oils are recommended for certain brands.

As a newbie, can any of you provide an opinion as to whether it is suitable for the LS 400? I do not yet need any but don't like to pass up a bargain. Onnthe other hand, I do not scrimp on things like engine oil

I wouldn't touch Halfords own brand car engine oil, I'd go for Castrol edge or magnetic or even Mobil, but never Halfords own brand.

Curious? Why not? Do you know something we don't? As long as it meets the industry standards what's the problem?

It's just a personal choice, I used to work for Halfords good few years ago, ppl who used their own brand of oil drove fords and Vauxhalls and them rubbish French cars, and I wouldn't use it in my Lexus, nope never.

Halford oil might well be fine, but I'd rather be certain by spending a bit more for a top quality brand.

I do shop around though.

The last oil I bought was a 20L container on offer from Opie,

I always but from opie as well to be fair but I can't imagine there's much wrong with the Halfords stuff.

Saying that I probably wouldn't buy it either
