Not sure about the 220, but the US site my.IS talks about gurgling on the 200 and describes various ingenious methods to get rid of air in the heater system.....

Has this last month - no heat from the heater and I also had the gurgling noise which I had for a while but thought it was normal - checked coolant in the expansion tank and there was none.

Don't know where it went but since top up it has been fine (2 weeks on)

Also, if your IS250 has some miles on it and the pressure cap hasn't been changed, i would recommend inspecting it. Mine failed last year and the valve inside the cap broke off and fell into the pipe. Eventually their was pressure problem and the coolant started boiling and coming out of the expansion tank. And car was overheating. Replaced the cap and all good now.

Hi guys, yeah looks like all the signs lead to coolant liquid but checked just today and all good and pinky;I believe its alright to be on minimum level sign level when cold :-? as when rich high temp its get to max level sign ..? Hope I'm right anyway, its strange again as half of the car heating while the other half cooling, I mean really cold air/ its winter I know/ so don't really know, maybe its time to dig deep in to my pockets and go to Lexus dealer :-$

Check the thermostat too , take it out and drop it in boiling water to see if it opens , I had this noise on a car years ago , faulty stat which cause the head gasket to blow .

Wow hope it won't get there! No, you see if the thermostat it won't open then the water won't reach 90° as shown on dashboard! !! I know that for sure; had previous 520i and didnt heat up but u could see straight forward on dashboard the water gauge was cold so that lead directly to thermostat being blocked open, in this case. I belueve that there's a leak at one of joints as some spkash signs at the very bottom engine room shows but I thought there were old ones. I'll have a friend mechanic look at it on weekend: I'll keep you posted.
