Issue After Recall And Timing Belt

Recommended Posts

car has 133k on clock and had the timing belt and waterpump changed along with inverter recall. Bought up a couple of issues when doing the general check like a blowing exhaust (replaced with custom made stainless steel from Tony Banks in Leeds) height sensor failure ( replaced linkage with one made by SGS engineering in Leeds) and ARB bushes can wait till MOT.

The car was running ok but down on fuel consumption quite dramatically and now has developed an intermittent clattering on start up sometimes up to 1 in 5 starts. Anyone any suggestions already replace spark plugs also?? Main stealer said it was exhaust blow causing it and charged me £54 for 10 minute look wash and vac and nice coffee!! and it definitely is not that.

Maybe it is possible the timing belt was not "timed" correctly upon replacement, just one notch out would make a big difference to the efficiency of the engine, and the clatter dare I say could even be a bit of valve/piston contact in extremis.
