Lexus....a Rare Sight In Europe?

I've just returned from a very enjoyable week in Carcassonne, (South Western) France.

Did not see one single Lexus during our stay. But caught quite a few adverts on telly for the new NX.

Holidaying in The Loire back in July...only saw 1 and that was a RX300 with French plates. Our french hosts at the chateau were drooling over my 250...so much so I took Philippe for a spin. We drew many admiring glances as we motored around the area.

So they seem to admire the marque, but perhaps they are too expensive on the continent? Surely not.....there are bucket loads of big Mercs and Audi's to be seen and they are not exactly given away are they. Maybe, it's because Lexus cocked up the attempt at Diesel. I know they like their diesel motors on the continent but there are plenty of petrol heads in Europe too.

So, have you seen any Lexus' on the continent on your travels?

Hi

last year driving through France and Spain I cannot remember seeing any Lexi, 7 out of 10 new cars seem to be Dacia, and in Spain the tow car of choice seemed to be Ssangyong, also noticed not too many Jaguars either, Mercedes seem to be the premium badge of choice in Spain, with the communist French buying 95% French cars, regardless of reliability!

Probably why France still has a motor industry and we havent!

Cheers Jason

I made a very similar thread to this a couple of years ago after my holiday in Italy.

There was a Lexus advert nearly every commercial break on TV whilst I was over there, yet I saw NO Lexus on the roads except for a MK2 GS300 on UK plates lol

Me and my missus had a discussion about this when we were driving through France a couple of months ago. She reckon's that the French have tax breaks or some other sort of incentives to encourage them to buy French. So we had an experiment - she counted French cars and I counted everything else... turned out to be about 50/50, so maybe she's right.

Didn't see a single Lexus either.
