  1. Hi knowledgeable people, The brake calipers on my 2002 IS 200 are somewhat ratty looking and I was wondering about possibly having them painted as the car needs some bodywork doing anyway. The bloke at the bodyshop suggested that I maight like to think about cosmetic caliper covers as an option as he was worried that paint might not be able to deal with the heat. Can anyone help me with advice and suggestions as to what is available please? My mechanical knowledge remains at a level reminiscent of that of an amoeba. Thanks

  4. I have just said goodbye to my MkIII, a very sad moment as I loved going back to it and taking her out for a leisurely cruise around, but in the end owning two LS's was a needless luxury that I couldn't really afford. So now I am left with my facelift 430 which I just love. Yes the ride isn't as soft or as quiet (althoug I'msplitting hairs really) but the car itself is just brilliant with the right toys and good performance. The facelift would be my personal choice (the first 430 I'd give a miss) over a MkIV. LPG is a no brainer in my eyes for whatever choice you make, as long as you plan on owning it for over a year.

  7. I bought the Po-40 last month from Michael, just got round to installing it last weekend. Arrived within 2 days from his London store so bonus points for speedy shipping Fantastic little kit and installation was a breeze... plug-in T-harness + 3 wire to splice.... I was lucky that my car has the 9 wire plug, if you have the 7 or 11 wire plug then you will have a bit more work on your hands because of the extra wires that will have to deal with. That said i did have a little problem initially in that on the user manual one of the 3 wires is supposed to connect to the "thick white" wire which meant i had to double-click the lock button to make the mirrors fold... The "thick white" wire does not appear to applicable to UK IS220d/IS250 models. Instead you have to connect it to the "thick purple" wire. Michael was very helpful in helping me troubleshoot this issue over skype Installation time approx 15-30 mins... Also i didn't have to remove the door panel as i was able to pull of the panel from the edges which was sufficient space to carry out the splicing. Well worth the effort and it adds class to the car :D Michael - Thank-you very much, im a happy man :zee:

  8. If you have complete set of discs (usually four of them) - try one of the others - this will eliminate disc as a cause of the problem. (if normal - should be read the disc - and of course you will be out of the coverage - then you'll just have to buy a new disc). In case it is not reading the disc - probably lens issue - it is plastic, not glass - therefore it gets old. Lexus repair man couldn't be very helpful (except to take the DVD reader unit out). AV tech would be much more handy. Last resort is to buy a second hand DVD unit - crashed vehicle or else.

  10. Right then fellow members. This past week I have carried out two really worthwhile jobs on my 57 plate IS220d SE-L MM The first job was to clean the EGR Valve and, as stated in my other thread, this has proven to be well worth the effort. The second job was to fit my recently acquired Po-40 modifcation to enable opening and closing of the door mirrors when locking and unlocking the car and, after a couple of initial hiccups they work perfectly. Now I can't forget to retract the mirrors when I park up anywhere because it does it automatically everytime I lock the doors. Additionally, If I get some distance from the car and wonder whether I locked it or not, a simple glance back will tell me, mirrors retracted equals car locked! This modification has been utilised mainly on the IS250 but, with the help of Michael (the supplier) and his technical contact, we have come up with a very small alteration to the connections which works perfectly with the 220d. To be able to make use of this modification you must already have the option to retract the mirrors by way of the in-car button on the main switch console on the drivers door. If you have this then you can fit the Po-40. For me, what amounted in total to half a days work to do both jobs was well worth the relatively small outlay. If you are like me and love the toys and goodies on modern cars then this mirror mod is well worth the effort.

  11. Sheesh... When I buy something for my car, I can't wait to get it installed and being used!!!\ Becasue I regularly pull the door liner off my car (to test a kit, check a wire colour, etc) my Po-40 control box is just sitting loose behind the door liner. There is surprisingly a lot of room and the box does not rattle or move about. One installation, I assisted, the user cut some double sided foam tape and stuck the Po-40 onto the plastic moisture barrier sheet. Maybe the attached sheet will assist.
