  2. The one I bought from Ebay was from a UK supplier, So I could have relatively easily returned it if it had not worked. Everything is made in China now, I suspect the "copies" half the time are made in the same factory, but sold to a local supplier.... It read the codes fine, a few of the other options were a bit iffy, but for the price, it did the job, picked up on Ruud's sticky VVti solenoid. I had the software loaded on an old XP laptop

  3. Did you ask them why they chose you? Seems weird to go so random when they must have a huge database of Lexus customers who would love to get involved. Thinking about it, I guess they have probably already approached a few existing Lexus owners, also some non-Lexus owners and maybe you fall in-between; a Lexus owner but no other involvement with Lexus? Wild stab in the dark...

  4. The normal antenna should pop out of the back of the standard head unit and go straight into the new one. You will probably have to connect the remote power switch from the new head unit to the power cable for the old antenna because it has a signal amplifier (some info here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/83938-aerial-amplifier-wire/). If you've got the amp, you'll need an amp bypass cable - there are various available on eBay, some people have had problems with the cheaper ones, but mine has been fine. Here's another thread with some details of fitting in: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/83463-single-din-head-unit-adaptor-problems/ The DAB antenna came from dabonwheels (http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/) who have always been very good for me. I used a Kinetic 4001 (http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/Kinetic_DEGA-4001_glass_mount_DAB_car_aerial.html ). I have a spare single DIN adaptor kit (like this) that I don't need. If you want it, PM me your address and I can stick it in the post for you...

  5. Totally agree, been using one for 6 years now, and the mechanics in the cassette deck well engineered, so should go for ever. Only slight problem is when having a kip in the car (while stationary I might add) and all is dead quiet you can just make out the slight noise coming from the adapter whirring about. One day I might get around to seeing if I can cure that, but life is too short for such worries

  6. Of course at the age of 61 I should know better, but as we were confessing recently about beating Jags etc. I thought I would chance it with a new BMW X5 on the A24 coming home from London. All went well on the straight, I certainly had the edge, but humiliation came at the roundabout in the wet. We all know the LS is a nightmare in the snow, well they're not much better in the wet. I accelerated before I straitened up and almost lost my rear end. The X5 left me in it's wake! A lesson learned, remember my limitations!

  7. The one I am getting is a 2006 V70 D5, 200BHP.... every gadget you could think of in this car, will be sad to see the lexus go but got a good deal on one and got to have it, all this time I have struggled to get things to fit in the boot... I have decided space is also important now...tookme long enough to decide.. I may just put the Lexus in the garage and leave it in there for a few years....not bothered about getting rid....

  9. Proper hubcentric aluminum wheel spacers with a sensible width and their own lugs will be fine. I have Eibach spacers on mine, 15mm on front, 20mm rear.

  11. Surly you are putting a lot more strain on the axle components and wheelbearings...

  12. Wheel spacers provide an expensive opportunity to fit wheels to make an IS200 both look stupid and handle badly. But it is a free country.
